It is probably the starter solenoid. It is the large piece on the starter incase you don't already know. I have heard people say that hitting the solenoid with something can work. Maybe try hitting a bar with a hammer into it? Anyways, do a search on starter solenoid and you will read of many different fixes. Yes, it is your starter, but not the whole starter I don't think. You can JUST buy the solenoid or you could remove the starter and take it to a local auto electric shop and have them either
A. rebuild the whole starter which is cheaper than one might think
B. just replace the solenoid, which you could do yourself from what I've been reading.
Let us know how it turns out so other with the problem acn see it when they search or whatever.
