Franzia Cabernet is certainly drinkable. Not the best I've ever had, but for $2.00 a liter not too bad.. And another fine point, is that your wife can't tell how much you drank.
I've paid much more for worse tasting wine.
Of course ther are plenty of palatable wines out there in the 7-10 dollar range. I hate when you just want one more glass of wine, but to do so, you must open another bottle.
