The transmission service (filter and fluid) was done about 1 year and 10,000 miles ago. Is this applicable to what you're saying, or only if the ATF filter was old?

I'm trying to note the noise on a regular basis and yesterday, for whatever reason, the transmission sounded relatively quiet. This was when the transmission was still cold just like when it does seem to whine. Does transmission noise vary a lot with respect to outside temps?
