I have an '85 300SD which makes a clicking sound at low speeds, when starting from standstill. The sound seems to emanate from the left side near the rear wheel. It also seems to be directly related to the engine RPM.
The sound is not there always, comes and goes.
I thought it was the muffler, but did not find anything wrong with it externally. The wheels checked out okay too.
I have owned this car for over a year and the sound has not gotten any worse and it does not seem to have affected anything else either.
Any help would be appreciated.
