I can't speak for the 201 chassis, but I would be surprised if it is different than the ones with which I have experience.

The rubber damper has nothing to do with the balance of the shaft. At first examination it may very well look as if it's molded to the shaft but this is not the case. In fact, many times it is removed permanently with no ill effects.

On the 124 it is easy to remove and replace, but if you do you must see that the marks are aligned properly. There is a knot on the front flange that matches up with an arrow on the damper.
