One of these guys actually wants to open a repair shop. I know better; I'm a halfway decent (note the word "halfway" ) shade-tree, but there's no way I could do this professionally.

Don't I risk weakening the box end by doing that? The bolts thus far have been pretty well torqued on.

I also need access to a grinder...but the friend who wants to open a shop is in an auto program at the moment; maybe he can do something (may as well; he's already going to go through the heads on my truck )...

Thank you all I've calmed down now, although yesterday proved to also be a "bad" day...here's to hoping that today goes better
