I have done some research on this on this board and the answer I came up with was NO? I am not sure on this
I believe the word was a manual mercedes trans could not handle the torque of the 5 cyl turbo.

I would think that it would handle normal day to day driving without any problem. There are many of our forum members who have taken 4-speeds from 240's and put them in their 300 turbos and aren't having any problems
or they're not saying anything if they are.
