Yes, the web link solved the problem. Apparently the MB kit is OEM HomeLink, as the programming is identical. My Normstahl door has a "teach" button (Lernen in the photo below) that only stays on for about 5 seconds, so I had to be snappy.
So, in short, you have to program the button as indicated in the MB or HomeLink manual, then, if your door has a "Teach" button, push it, and quickly push the MB button twice. All done.
Thanks again. I can now retire the second remote and have a nice tidy car.
