Warm start problems - Dead Sensor?

Now the ambient air temp has risen into the teens my 190e 2.0 is starting poorly. Even on first turn of the day it needs "holding" before it fires into uncertain life. The revs wander before settling at 800 rpm and the oil pressure takes a bit longer than I would like to rise.

The fact the revs peak so low on a cold engine suggests that the cold start valve or the sensor which tells it what to do are not working. Is this right (ish)?

Just as an aside there is a vacume inlet at the back of the Airflow sensor unit (for autobox I belive) when its open starting is easier and revs peak at about 1000 rpm but engine is rougher and gearchanges not so smooth.

Anyone had similair problems and can give me a dig-out?

Mike.
