How fast does it turn over? If it turns over unusually fast then I would worry.

Don't really understand "by the welding" when it comes to verifying if the chain has been replaced or not. Not trying to be a total downer on you here but just because the dist rotor still spins, it does not mean that it hasn't jumped time.

But, for my good news, I think you may just have a fuel or spark problem because most of them I have seen fail at a significant rate of speed, highway speed that is, usually crater big time.
