On the left side of that trans there are a number of easily repaired leaks. There is a shift pressure switch toward the front that works with the shift overpressure control system. There is a reaction valve for a band, the modulator, the secondary pump/governor towards the rear.

Having experience with the tranny is important and many transmission shops should have it. If they have made an external leak diagnosis they probably know how to deal with it. If it is the pressure switch, there is not much they can do wrong except misdiagnose it.
