There are 2 bushings for the shifter and they are both VERY difficult to replace. One is actually easier, IF you consider removing the center shift console to get access and leverage, easy. I tried going underneath without luck on that one.
The other one you had no choice but to do it undernneath. That one a special method (tool i jury rigged) for one of them. The dealer here will do it for about $120 for both. That might be reasonable. You might as well do both because i did the one that was broken and then had to do the other one when that one broke 6 months later. Other postings say they pushed in the bushing with "a little soap or lubricant". Beats the hell out of me how they did that.
Consider this recommendation from someone who took the entire dash apart to replace the vacuum actuators for the climate control. That was less an ordeal. Tedious and took a long time but less frustrating.
