Seriously, I do'nt know about the 126, but on my 123, there's a loop type handle under the rear seat cushion. Once that's pulled, the trunk can be gotten into regardless of whether or not you have the key. This was done as an emergency measure.

That is what I have on my '84 SD. Should be there on the SDL on driver's side.
