blower motor access (quick)

1989 300CE

Blower motor quit. After searching I've seen reference to the"tap" method of short term fix. I'd love to try it before tearing this thing apart (again). Do I have to remove monowiper and squirrel cages to use this sophisticated repair technique? Or can I get at the blower motor from under the passenger side dash?

I know it is inevitable that I will have to take things apart, but DIY fatigue is setting in.

thanks

oops - unrelated, but, how much new brake fluid should I have on hand to flush/change out my old brake fluid?
