Didn't someone post something about using tractor oil of some sort in the suspension hydraulics? He said it got it working fine almost for free. I sure wish there was a way to toss all that hydraulic stuff--I hate having to worry about it when I am looking at a car to buy.

That said, I looked at a car with not so good paint and 230k that was an 82 300TD a few weeks ago, and it was fairly nice. That owner wanted about 10 times as much as your guy is asking, so I'd say go for it and don't worry about making it be perfect.
