A small 12v battery makes a great power station .
I have one on a bottom shelf [out of the way]with alligator leads that clip on to 2 insulators above the bench.
Need power , there they are, nice and neat.
If you do a lot of work , put a small power panel with an amp meter , switch, and fuse in series with the leads and a couple of banna plugs [+/-] for the leads

That way , you can store/hang the leads out of the way when not using them.

If you have a bench with a vise , that is where you want to locate the station... best to work on electric motors when they are vised and lots of auto electric parts use case as ground.......
Oh Yeah, I... guess you might as well add the soldering station and battery charger on the shelf on top... oh wait...the scope goes there ...
