I'd certainly ask for a discount of $700-800 based on the price of that pump and some labor. Then, I'd buy the car and somehow get it home...stop and add fluid if you have to, just don't let that pump run dry!!!

Next, confirm that it is infact, hydraulic fluid that is leaking and, that it is leaking from the pump....clean everything on the front of the head and look for where the leak is. I'll be willing to bet you a frosty adult beverage that it is the output hose leaking, where the steel fitting is swaged onto rubber line the near the banjo fitting on the pump and not the pump itsself. FYI-if the engine is running over 2000 RPM, that particular line is under about 1800psi when leveling the car.

If it is the hose, you have some options.
1) Go to the dealer, assume the position and hope for the best. Chances are you will need the 'upgraded' hose and some other expensive trinkets. Sorry, I have no idea what this 'upgraded' thing means because after a week, the wrong parts and no hope of getting anwhere I gave up on the idiots at my local MBZ parts distributor.
2) go to a reputable servicer of hydraulic equipment and have them build you a hose. This should run about $100. They can use your old hose ends to make up adapters that can connect an easily fabricated American hose to your car. WARNING! The output hose has at least 23 metering tubes inside of it. Make sure the hose builder understnads this or he may destroy them when cutting into the hose to retrieve the metric ends. If you go this route, make sure you get the hose made the right length too...there isn't much extra room under that hood for 6" extra of hose. To get the right length, you may need to leave some of the metering tubes out of the new hose but that will not be a problem.

If the pump looks like it is leaking, it may just be the copper sealing washers under the banjo bolt. Easy to replace.

If it's not the copper washers then it may be the sealing ring in the pump housing.
