The drain on a 123 is directly on the centerline of the car. Take off the passenger side knee panel and reach way up forward on the centerline. The drain nipple has a short piece of foam tube attached to it which drains out on top of the transmission. The foam is probably deteriorated. If it isn't, it will be when you touch it. Some people have replaced the foam tube with a funnel fabricated from a plastic bottle.
