I own a used 98 SLK 230 with the factory radio and cd changer.
We had our first rain in 182 days here in San Diego last week.. and the following happened:

On my way home, the radio started 'turning on by itself'. I would turn it off, and a minute later it would turn itself on again. This happened perhaps 10 times. Then the radio would not turn on at all for 2 days. I left the car in an airport parking lot for a day, when I arrived back.. it magically turned itself on again! Ok, everything was back to normal.

But then, in the middle of that night, the radio turned itself on again in the garage! It woke me up, I went to the car, none of the buttons worked to turn it off. I turned the car on and then off, and the radio turned off.
Now i have removed the fuse for the radio, as I don't know what it will do.

Q: Any idea on what might be going on?
Q: Do I have any options to replace the radio.. with any oem radios? I would prefer something a bit better, never use the cassette.

I have searched the internet, but seems there are no oem radios that I can replace my factory one with on this model?

Any advice appreciated.
