Yes, mechanically, the cams are timed to the crankshaft, they all line up close enough to perfect (right side / passenger's side) cam is about 2-degrees off after the head work.

Does well does the distributer self time? Can you just set it in anywhere and it finds where it needs to be, or do you have to get it close to beginwith before it finds where it needs to be? This is about the only think I can think of. I'll try fiddleing with it this weekend when I have the time, but until then I'm hoping to get some good ideas to try insead of/if that doesn't work.
