Eric (or anyone else, for that matter), how did you manage to get the retaining ring off the pump shaft? (???) I'm in the middle of re-sealing my Vickers pump, and I've tried several different screwdrivers (and picks, and other assorted devices) and cannot seem to get the leverage to persuade it out of the groove. If you have any special tool recommendations, I'd be very interested to hear about them...
