This system was in fact developed by Chrysler and used in various up-scale models until 1976. MB licensed it and kept using it until 1981. This is the servo only. The vacuum-operated flaps and other controls are Mercedes.

DEF is hardwired around the servo and vacuum so you can clear the windshield even if the system fails (as it frequently does).

Actually, when it works, it's a decent system. I had to put a push-button assembly, a servo, and an amplifier in my 380SL and it worked very well.
