Is it just me, or does anyone else have this luck? Every time I buy a diesel that I think is really cool or rare, the local paper or trader is full of them the next day at half the price.

Happened with the 87 300D, the 300sd's and now, to add insult to injury, I just bought a 116, 1979 and am spending a bunch of bucks to trick it out and, within a few days one is on the forum dirt cheap and another is "free to good home"!

If anyone wants a really cheap diesel, let me know... I'll buy one and the price will immediately fall on all the others.

It all started in 1980, when I, smiling broadly, was driving my new 300D home on I-75. My head got a little big and apparently God noticed I was a little too cocky... The cattle truck/trailer in front of me was full of pigs... One apparently began urinating and they all joined... a veritable thunderstorm of 70mph pig pee all over my new car, had to stop and use my undershirt and gas station hose to clean the car. I try to never feel too impressed with myself on a new car purchase and I only suffer the price curse rather than the pee curse now.
