Contrary to instinct, short trips are considered 'severe duty' for a vehicle, particularly a diesel.

However, don't let that stop you, just keep a few things in mind. You'll want to change your oil and oil filter more often, for instance, and you'll want to get a good full-temperature open throttle highway run in now and again to keep things clean.

I have a 10 mile round trip commute, but I also make frequent trips to nearby cities and road trips. If I drive to and from work everyday for a week with no other trips my car smokes more and doesn't run as well. A few good runs on the highway and it smooths right back out again.

So anyway, its not problematic, just keep the 'severe duty' thing in mind as you plan your maintainence.
