You really need the spin cycle to get most of the water out of it. Losing the "fur" is caused by either loose stuff to start with or by mechanical abrasion in the washing cycle. To minimize the loss, minimize the agitation by agitating, stopping the machine for ten minutes or so to allow the Woolite to soak in, then agitate for another few minutes and then spin. Repeat in the rinse cycle. Block it into general shape with whatever you can find, then dry in the shade. A household fan blowing on it will speed things up. If you can, try to re-install the covers when they are almost but not quite dry (95%?) so as to stretch them into place while still very pliable.

BTW, vacuum the skins before washing them to minimize making "mud" when the water hits the dirt.
