Can you feel the scratches if you run yor fingernail over them? If so, then the PC orbital probably will not work. If they are merely surface scratches and not through the clear coat, I have had tremendous success using the Menzerna products with a Porter cable on black paint. Another source of information is Autopia that is a website that is frequented by a group of obsessive detailers. They will give you advice with your concerns in une-ending detail.
