I had a pump go south on my '79 on the freeway at 70 MPH 3 years ago. You'll need all the weight you can muster to get the car stopped.

The reason the pump and hence brakes aren't working properly is because I
don't have used o-rings in it. The rebuild kit does not include the proper thickness o-rings, and the pump won't work correctly without the originals. I still have one of the o-rings; it is still soft and pliable, should be good to go a while longer.
Surely someone out there has a dead 617 turbo laying around? I'll even buy the entire pump, if necessary...
