I honestly believe it is a case of simple economics. Why in the world spend money and time engineering something to be maintainable and rebuildable when corporate profitability is based solely on
consumption of new product? If consumer consumption is the key to revenue, then engineer the product to suit fast, efficient production and to have a reduced lifespan.
