y 2k experience

carr that story reminds me of my y 2k experience.
wife and i had decided to get away from town as to avoid all the vandalism, stealing, all the bad things that were going to happen when the computers all stop, we even believed that water pumps would stop running because that darn solid state chip would quit .
so here we go,figured florida would be a good spot, found a couple down there that was headed for kentucky(where we was comming from, said they wanted to find a old mined out coal mine for safety).we made a fast deal, and i got their lake front site that was just perfect, figured why not enjoy the nice weather for a bit.
the deal for the property got completed a couple days before new years eve and we waved as they left with their trailor and shouted for us to watch out for the gaitors.
well i had a couple days to get ready and figured to park our trailor where the fellow had his, could use the same blocks he had left to level the thing and get home sweet home set up.
we worked our butts off, time line you know, wife had insisted on a 2000 gallon water tank to be filled and i wanted to get the 30 caliber machine gun safely on the turret and some brush around it so when we had to retreat to the trailor top i could be ready.
wife and i really love gold fish, love to just sit and watch, wife says some times i just sits and thinks and some times i just sits, sorta relaxes one you know,i think we had 22 large tanks and just a couple small ones she keeps in the bath room, but any way we got all the tanks full and boy was they hungry-got um fed and everything seem to be going as planned.
here it is ,about 45 minutes till midnight, the big apple was going to drop soon and i thought i would go set on the couch a bit to take the load off, only thing left for me was to shut off the water tank filling process ,was sorts eyeing the tv,and watching my gold fish swim. wouldnt you know it, i heard a small cracking noise coming from the bed room end of the trailor(i had mounted it back there figuring we could hear the sloching water, maybe like a fake ocean sound),well i soon found out why the fellow had left the cement blocks, they werent real crisp and had started to crumble from the water tank weight -here i was helpless, went for an ax i kept in the pick up-was going to chop a hole in the bottom of the tank but was too slow-trailor starts to roll off the blocks-out the door slides my wife and all my 400+gold fish was in a 2 inch stream of water all comming thru the front door-thing rolled sorta slow and as it turned my 30 caliber barrell stuck right dead center of the pick up bed and burried about a foot of the barrell in the mud.i went down to catch the wife from slidding all the way to the lake water, caught her and even tried to use my arms to gather some of the fish but they were past me in a flash.i heard this noise behind me and soon figured what was happening, the gaitors had a taste of my gold fish and were working their way up the hill,i kept pushing the wife back up but it had got slick and i soon could feel them gaitor teeth and claws touching my face, well about that time i heard my wife say"honey wake up,its time for the apple to drop as she gently rubbed my cheek"
