Why would one put the grille from a 190e (W201) on a 300e (W124), when the grille is virtually the same.

From my understanding, he wants to put the grille insert from a W210 - 1996-present E-class in his 1994 W124 E class, which has the updated hood/grille, and not the grille and chrome surround like my pre 1994 car has.

The insert of the 1996-present W210 e-class looks very similar to the insert in the 1994-1995 W124 E class hood as far as shape, but I believe it has more chrome strips or less louvers in it, and looks very good

You could just add some more chrome strips to your existing grille if thats the look you want.

The W124 hood conversion mentioned, consists of a new surround piece for the front that is attached to the hood, then filled in a painted, and thenyou can insert the newer style grilles into the hood, which effectively makes the hood the same as a 1994-1995 W124 hood, but if you weigh out the costs, its basicallyt hje same price as actually buying a 1994-1995 hood and getting it painted.

i think it can be done, but you may have to have it modified slightly, like shaving down some of the edges to make it fit.
