Does that mean that 3835 lbs stated by the manufacturer means that it weighs that without fuel in it?

The door tag says: 4880 lbs GVWR. Subtract the weight capacity of 930 lbs and you get 3950. Almost exactly the same weight as what came out on the scale with nearly a full tank of diesel, no driver or passengers, and not even an extra scrap of paper inside the car.
A full tank of fuel is about 150 lb. so taking this off the 3960 gives you 3810. This is probably within the margin of error of the scale when compared to the 3835.

4880 is the maximum gross weight with full fuel. Subtract 930 lb. for weight capacity and you get 3950. Subtract the fuel and you should get the curb weight (3800). I'm not sure where the 35 lb. disappeared.
