I do not heat the tanks at all, but I envisage that the woodden frame I use to hold them could have copper pipes running up and down (front - back of car) and a couple of wine cask bladders used to provide thermal contact to the HDPE
containers.
The BIG advantage is that I do not have any spillages in the trunk, due to refuelling. All refuelling is done on the ground out of the car.

The black straps I have across the top of the tanks is elastic rope, but a webbing tie-down strap would probably be more secure.
