That's the detailing clay.

Actually similiar to the steel wool suggested, but much less aggressive. And it will pull stuff out of any pores etc.

Search for discussions in the detailing thread on clay, same process outlined there. I save the used stuff from the body, just for the glass, and wheels.

Lube, mildly diluted car wash liquid, less diluted than you'd use to wash.
Maybe use less lube for the glass than the body.
