Diesel models have never been big sellers here except during the W123 model run where the 300D & 300TD were popular (and to a lesser extent the 240D) although we never got the turbo versions back then. We did get a few W201 and W124 diesels and in the last ten years some diesels have been available in the C, E and ML classes (the ML270CDI and E270CDI are quite popular).

V8 engines have been available here since the W100, 111 coupe, 108, 109 and 107. V8s did not become available in anything smaller than an S class or SL until the M113 went into the W210 (E430, E55) and the W202 (C43). There have been a few V12 models available here starting with the R129 (600SL) and W140 (600SEL) although the cost meant they were not big sellers.
