My initial reaction to this boycott was that Exxon/Mobil isn't any better or worse than any other oil company, so I figured I would ignore it. Then I heard Exxon/Mobil's spokesman respond. He blamed the boycott on "political correctness." Well, I don't know about you, but that defense is pretty well worn out in my opinion. If he had anything good to say, he wouldn't be complaining about PCness.

I avoided Exxon stations because of their response to the Exxon Valdez spill. It was so long ago that I don't even remember what my complaint was, but I think I will go back to avoiding Exxon/Mobil stations. That PC comment really got under my skin.

On the other hand, the wife's Honda has a VTEC engine with all that variable valve timing mechanism, so I think I'll keep buying Mobil 1. I guess I am being entirely unprincipled about this thing. Oh, well. Nobody's perfect.
