Mercedes had two TSB out where they adjusted the full load quantity and maximum engine speed. This applied to 603 engines. Around the time of this being issued, my SDL received a new IP. Whatever that means.

Although I have not cracked it open yet(no pyro, and I am more than satisfied with performance from this big car), I think the IP may have been tweaked sometime in the past. Forget that. I know it must have been, because a 3950 lb curb weighted car would not accelerate that well.

Brandon: I am really impressed by that video. Is that 80-90 mph time done without any extenal influencing factors? I mean, 80 - 90 mph in around 3 seconds, is absolutely insane for top gear. Also, I notice the speedometer is that from an '85, but yours is an '81. I know the differential for the '85 = 2.88 vs 3.07. I also noticed that the car shifted(or you) at 75 - 76 mph. Have you raised the maximum engine speed? Or have you switched the differential?

I haven't read the bulk of this thread. Certain things catch my interest once in awhile.

Hey,
I swapped in a 0-120MPH speedo in place of my 85MPH max one.
The difference in accuracy was marginal as my tires are a tad larger.
Its probably 2-3MPH off max depending on speeds.
That was all on a flat road...the 80+ speeds are REAL quick...I wasn't running full pedal on that either.

I still want to try to get some videos with my pyro in them.....I have tons but there was so much traffic that it is hard to really open it up regularly.

4th gear will throw you back when it shifts up...the shifts listed on the speedo are for the SDL I presume however I haven't played too much with it though..

It seems to shift a bit early generally...haven't touched the idle/max adjustments one bit...
