Weren't the W116 cars the last ones to have the fenders glued on? I don't think they used any adhesive on the W123's, and I know they didn't on the 126. Regardless, I think the W123 cars are the hands-down winners (I am, as folks are probably starting to guess, extremely biased, though).

Let's consider density, shall we? My W126 300SD weighed in at 4750 lbs., I think. Now, my 300TD is CONSIDERABLY smaller than the 126, but weighs over 150 lbs. more. There you have it!
