PS Pump Additional Suggestions

Thanks Eric for the information and check list. Everything worked wonderfully and I especially like the suggestion to reverse the through bolt (lower bolt on the tensioner Y bracket). I replaced my tensioner last week and torqueing that bolt was a pain.

A couple of observations.

Once you have removed the pump from the car, loosen and remove the four bolts which hold the sections of the pump together, but DO NOT separate the two pieces. First holding the pump by the reservoir with the impeller vertical and pulley mounting plate on a work surface, rotate the impeller slowly two revolutions. Then holding the pulley mounting plate firm, lift the reservoir section off. In this way the vanes are retracted into the impleller slots and they will not fall out. You then can maintain the orientation of the vanes and in fact put them back in the same slots if you like.

The Vickers pumps have only 2 bolts in the back for mounting onto the engine.

When you reattach the hoses, definitely use teflon tap on the threads.

Finally a question, does anyone know the torque on the 4 bolts which hold the pump together.

Thanks.
