Using wvo directly on a merc 190D 2.5 turbo

Hello everybody!

With the oil prices soaring, and it doesn't look like they're gona stop, I'm considering alternative fuels.

I have a '92 190D 2.5 turbo (I live in europe thus it's an european version) 5 speed manual. The car is great, and the engine is in a pretty good condition (apart from some oil leaks I haven't been bothered fixing). I've read alot today about people using wvo directly (after filtering) in their engines. I have a friend of mine who is a cook and asked him if he can find me wvo and he said sure. My uncle also has a restaurant so I can get some wvo from him as well.

Now the question is, can I use a mixture of petro diesel and wvo in my car without damaging it? I plan using this car for a long time. What mixture should I use (say 80% diesel 20% wvo, or higher mixture 70:30 ect)? I'm not going to warm up my fuel tank, just ad in filtered wvo and drive. I think I'll use either sunflower/corn/olive oil. Do these oils (sunflower/corn/olive) have any pros or cons? I think overhere (in Albania) we use sunflower/corn oil for cooking, which of these to is the best and how are they in comparison with what peple use normally in their cars?

Also I read that a lot of people leave their wvo settle for a long time (like months). Is this necessary? Can't I just filter the oil and pour it in the tank?

I've also read that people are mixing wvo and unleaded petrol. Is it possible? How better/worse is it compared to diesel/wvo mix? Which gives better power output?

Temperatures where I live are between 35c (95f) or warmer in the summer and 3c (37f) in the winter (though it can get even below freezing). Normally the cold season (winter :: ) starts in late november. Till that time temps can stay as high as 20c (68f) during the day but as low as 5c (41f) during the night.

Thanx for the help!

Deni
