Ah yes, the 52 HP (hare power) diesel. or was that 48? Can't remember the year they upped the juice. Actually pretty good little motors. Too bad a lot of the American VW mechanics had no idea how to work on them. Then again, a lot of us were on the wrong end of the learning curve. I got to where I could time the darn things by eyeball and be more than close enough to run well. But no more cogged belts. Now I'm chain drive! Still have my VW tools hidden away somewhere.
I'd like to name my cars, but I'm not very creative. I guess I'll just have to grab some names from Wagner operas.
My Suburban on the other hand IS the USS New Jersey. That thing is a battleship and consumes fuel like one! But, like the ship, when called upon to do its job, it does it well.
