I know there will be others who disagree, but my opinion is any diesel-rated oil is better than any nondiesel-rated oil. The diesel rating implies it has additives to help it perform better in diesel engines (being better able to suspend soot, for example).

As to brand, do a search, everybody has a favorite.

You probably won't do any damage running the oil that is in there for a while, but you may want to think about a reduced change interval for this change (say 1500 vs 3000 miles or something around there).
