how much did it cost you and how did you put it to use in your system?

All of this talk of polymerization has me concerned.
Use a plastic VO tank, and stay away from highly reactive metals like copper and zinc coated (galvanized) and even steel. Stainless steel or aluminum are better for tube in hose, plastic or rubber (HOH) is the best.

yep, after 3 yrs it was fine. the only time you will get a reaction like the pics show is when air is in contact with metal/veg oil. for all wvo locations where air is not present, aluminum works just fine (as does copper). for in tank heaters and tank material itself, its best to use something other than copper or stainless. the aluminum frybrid and associated tank heater all look fine after 3 yrs. if i do it again, i may go with a polymer tank but from what ive seen it isnt needed as long as its aluminum.

I'm glad I don't use SVO anymore; that dirty nasty yucky stuff will never find it's way into my tank anymore.
not my experience. it is nasty stuff i agree, but properly heated and dispensed into hot running engine it seems to work fine (52k miles, 3 yrs on frybrid system).

i like bio as well, but in winter months you are stuck with what..20% blend max? I dont want 80% going to exxon, nevermind the task of making bio. if i were to buy bio, its more expensive than D2.

maybe 1 day i will get into brewing bio and run a bio/veg 2 tank system, i think that would be the ultimate method of ass pounding opec on a daily basis!

I agree, I have 55K on a Greasecar system in my 98 E300. No problems, runs great.

Is it common to get polymerization in the WVO tank from a coolant heated pickup? I was hoping to use an electric fuel pickup so it could turn off when it got warm enough and not overheat the oil but I'm having a hard time finding any. Anyone know where I can find a decent and hopefully not too expensive electric fuel heater/pickup?

If not, what about a decent coolant heated pickup? I'm finding ones online for about 200 bucks...ouch.

Well after more research I think I'm going to try and make my own heated wvo pickup. I'm thinking a basic down and back aluminum tube style. Something like this:

I am trying to put it into this marine tank through the mechanical fuel gauge hole if I can take that off/out. Its the 12 gallon, high profile.

Has anyone done anything similar that can share some tips or beta for me? This is new to me so I appreciate any help.
