City where I live getting biodiesel plant!
http://www.gazetteextra.com/biodiesel_eville081906.asp
We're in the heart of soybean country, on a rail spur, and 15 miles from I-90. It's 2 stages, first is just the refinery and second is a bean crushing plant. The high school team name is the Blue Devils. Maybe it can get changed to something a bit tougher sounding like "The Evansville Bean Crushers" Gilly

I saw on the news last ngiht that Eugene now has a full-blown bio fuel station where they sell biodiesel and E-85. There weren't many details but they showed pumps #'s 7 and 9, so it must be a fairly big station. I'm not sure what percentage biodiesel they have, but I'll check it out next time I'm down there.
I wonder how long before they put one closer to where I live...

There probably is already an answer elsewhere on the net, but let me ask here:
1. How is the fuel mileage affected by using bio? 2. What is the price difference of bio compared to #2? 3. Any other negative affects using bio? Cold weather gelling a concern? Gilly

In Madison, you have to join the co-op to get 3.18 othewise it is 3.53. I get fuel at Deforest Lotus truck stop for 3.06. Member or non member is a $0.35 difference. Membership is $150 a year with some voting privillages. Have to buy $428.57 gals to break even about 135 gals. Give or take. In any case, they are at least 18 cents more a gal even for a member. As to gelling, it might gel at a higher temp than regular but anti-gels should take care of it.

Someone mention Soy? Question about WVO smell.
So I went drum diving last night with the blessing of the Chinese rest. owner, whom invited me to eat dinner with him and his employees at 9 pm! Am I blessed or WHAT?!
He uses soy oil. There was a fairly strong putrid smell that I was hoping was the garbage dumpster next to the drum. Careful not to touch anything garbage related, I accomplished the mission and packed up 16 gallons in 15 minutes. This smell followed me home where I stored the cubies in my cool temp storage room. Is this what soy WVO is supposed to smell like? Maybe a fermentation type of smell? The WVO is not cloudy, not milky but no where near translucent in light. I put Biocide in each cubie in case bacteria is the cause of the smell. Anyone else know what good soy WVO smells like? Please share your wisdom. Cheers, Frankie

wvo shouldnt smell bad unless its been overused and rancid. It should smell like the food it cooked not nasty smelling at all. Even if the oil is clear it can still be rancid.
Thats why if i come across that kind of oil i know the food they serve is probably just as nasty as the oil. Frankie have you checked out my source in san bruno? check it out and youll see what good oil smells like.

WVO line not returning to secondary tank? WTF
i posted this already on frybrid.com since that's where i bought my 3port solenoids...here we go...
Finally got my dual 3 port frybrid DIY, two tank heated system hooked up! Switch over times pretty darn fast, EXCEPT i have a problem. When running on diesel, the return hose (on top of the diesel fuel filter where the cigar hose once was) returns fine to the default/diesel side of the solenoid. But when i have it selected to WVO nothing comes out (the line won't get that WVO gold color). when i switch back to diesel, again i can see a bit of motion indicating that it's once again moving fluid thru (diesel). I've taken off the aformentioned return line (where the cigar hose once attached, above the diesel filter) and submerged it into a can containing WVO, and then used my mityvac to suck it back the length of the car to the disconnected return hose (while the solenoids were selected to make the car run on WVO)...that works fine-no blockages in the WVO return line. i then left the return line OFF (not connected to the return nozzle that feeds back into the tank-just in case the block is the nipple on the return WVO part of the tank), and ran the car on WVO...still nothing....... i did plug the bottom of the banjo bolt with some JB weld, and it looked pretty solid. I'm pretty much at my wits' end here. the only thing that i can think of is that there is a motorized pump pulling the dino back into the stock tank....... why would the diesel come out of the banjo bolt area when selected but not the WVO?? anyone...?????
