Elsbett injectors and glow plugs

I am interested in experimenting with different injectors and glow plugs in my 300D turbo which already has a bigger filter, electric and coolant heat for the single tank vegetable oil conversion. Does anyone know what injectors and what glow plugs elsbett uses?

Does anyone know what is different about Elsbetts injector tips? I'm thinking about them in addition to my two-tank system.

get rid of that single tank "conversion", there is no such thing as a good single tank.

A non-biased scientific test of one of the Elsbett systems:

Seems rather negative to me.

I am an Elsbett Dealer and owner of a VW TDI Elsbett conversion.

To the OP:

Here is a link to the BERU glow plugs that Elsbett uses ( I believe )
http://www.beru.com/products/diesel-cold-start-technology/glow-plugs/high-tech-glow-plugs-ge-gn

The Elsbett requires the ones with post-glow the -GN suffix

They recently began selling the injector nozzles for older IDI M-B injectors only in their online store . Unf. the store is down today.

I read the ncat report. It's too bad they didn't have better mechanical help.
The problems they had were due to not installing the Elsbett supplied glow plugs.
They are designed to stay on after start up for a couple minutes.
Doing this with std glow plugs will cause them to burn out, just as they experienced.
This lead to hard starts and engine damage.
I also was surprised not to read mention of rebuilding the injectors during conversion.
Did they skip that too?

I see they used safflower. Both safflower and high oleic safflower have slightly high viscosity and iodine relative to canola.
But I don't see that the oil was processed in any way. Processing or cold filtering is required to remove phosphorous ( gums ) from the virgin oil. If you don't, the excess phosphorous doesn't burn and forms deposits in the engine.
This has happened with many types of oils.
Elsbett recommends canola/rapeseed only. However I have also used soy and peanut oil successfully. In any case, the v.o. must meet the Weihenstephan standard.
http://vegburner.co.uk/oils.htm
The variable properties are the ones to be concerned with.

For those w/o a laboratory, that means food-grade virgin or waste oil filtered to 1 micron absolute. < 1000 ppm water too.
If using oil from a farm, the oil must be cold pressed and this is an art , not a science.

Never heard of any other VO'ers using safflower oil, so they were in uncharted territory.
Should have been more cautious. Monitored the crankcase oil, pulled injectors every 50 hours to check for deposits.

I have run 140K( 220K total ) miles on WVO+SVO in my Elsbett TDI. No problems with the engine , inj pump or kit ( other than my own wiring goofs ).
Single tank works well if you install it right and follow all the recommendations.

If a person was using the Elsbett Nozzles on a 627.952 Engine; what features of the Elsbett Nozzles better (for the Fuels you mentiond) than the Bosch or Monark Nozzles for the same Engine?

I purchased Elsbett Technology and the glow plugs, after the Euro conversion, it was under $400 USD. As for the glowplugs, go with Bosch Chromium glowplugs and upgraded relay. Elsbett apparently does not make their own, they just re-market them. I have been using Elsbett for almost 2 years. I can tell you that if you purge with no.2 diesel, it will knock like crazy. I got GREAT customer service from Alex in Germany, which is kind of nuts since I tried contacting the US Rep a few times, and I got pretty crappy customer service. So, if you want customer service, you MAY be stuck with the person named Alex Noak (sic) in Germany. As for the injectors, they do a better job than stock. That is true without a doubt, BUT you still need to get your grease up to at least 160 F or BETTER. The real key is a 60 plate heat exchanger mounted where your battery is and the battery in the trunk. I have a 85 MB 300 Turbo, and this is my 4th year on WVO, with almost 2 years with Elsbett. I needed new injectors when I did the conversion, so I cannot give you a great response since I did not have the chance to compare good injectors against Elsbett. They are pricey, about twice that of Monarks, but if they atomize better, then they are worth it. BUT, how does one prove they atomize better? You will get junk in the injectors even after 1 week with perfectly filtered and heated WVO. I firmly believe the junk is the nature of the beast, but it is better than $4 a gallon.

I thought that Elsbett might have said something like our Injectors have a larger Orifice and Pintel, the Pintel angle is different from stock so it atomizes the WVO better and does not clog up with Carbon as easily.
More details like that.

Elsbett tech

is proprietary. They make no specific claims.
Others have examined them closely and found differences.
Elsbett also modified the injection timing.
TDI injectors have an additional modification sometimes done in Germany.

Elsbett two-tank systems do not use modified injectors.

Elsbett designed their own multi-fuel engine in the late 70's.
No other conversion kit maker has their expertise.

Smile ELSBETT nozzles and glow plugs

Interesting thread, nevertheless as somebody mentioned my name, I want to correct a few things. All the ELSBETT parts still available. We did start a new shop at the begin of 2011 - right after one of the investors removed his engagement. You may google for the new shop at greasenergy-shop or elsbett dot info . Something about the glowplugs: GN stands at ELSBETT for - G-Grosse Leistung (high power) and N-Nacharbeit (modified). There are many other codes in different kits. Beside the all well known kits we jumped in even in software upgrades (we do this already since 10 years with the VAG-PD engines) to get a better run of the newer cars on biofuels. This product line includes nearly all brands with electronic controlled Bosch systems.
