Biodiesel - Fuel Line Replacement
Does anyone know if the OEM fuel lines and injector lines, for an '81 300TD, at the Mercedes dealer are biodiesel compatible (i.e. synthetic, Vitron, etc.) ?
Thanks, Gary |
the story is, if you get new lines, they are compatible.
that said, I wonder how one knows for sure the ones you get are recent enough.... I just picked some up, I will let you know... |
What exactly is the I/D of our injector return lines?
Dayco is selling a new flouroelastomer with a braided reinforcement that is specifically rated for high pressure injection systems and biodiesel (it even mentions it in the specs). Sounds like good stuff, and is supposedly very well priced. peace, sam P.S. The way you can tell if your lines are recent enough is by watching them to see if they start to weep. ;) |
I tested a sample of the latest MB fuel line in a jar of comc'l BD for 6 months. No elongation, expansion or degradation (I at least expected SOME expansion, seems like that would happen with immersion in about ANYTHING for 6 months?)
Just thought about it, I think I'll throw a sample in some homebrew WVO BD for 3-6 months and see what comes. |
