Wowee. A bit touchy here.
I know the 210s are less expensive in the US, but that's not the case up here. Trust me, if I could get a 10k e300d, I'd be in heaven. There's no such thing up here in Canada. Any car under 14k is generally worn out and has no records. I know all about the GPs and other idiocyncracies, thanks. And I also know the difference between SVO and WVO. I've been using WVO for almost 5 years, and have over 400 000 veggie kms on the 5 cars I've converted: 3 VWs, 1 benz and 1 suzuki/VW mutt. I remember when everyone was saying the same thing about VW TDis. "Oh, you can't convert those, they're direct injection!" LOL Really, lighten up. But I do understand some of your reservations. There are a lot of dogpatch conversions out there. I've seen cars that used garden hose for fuel & coolant line, with twine tying the bundled hoses to the brake lines. There are tidy conversions out there, they're just not as much fun to talk about as the scary ones.

I have yet to see a factory quality conversion. For starters you have a big greasy tank bolted right into the trunk.

Not much to see, I guess, because the "big greasy tank" is hidden.

Are you using a shared filter for diesel & vegetable oil?

My car is not converted yet. But you do no want to run the WVO and diesel thru same filter unless you mix minimum 75 to 25 and 50 05 in winter. you can heat your maine tank and have a small 5 gallon diesel tank in trunk... goto greasecar.com for all info you ma need. I like the grease kings set up its all well made and the best value. good luck

Quick note on Frybrid, while there is a kit listed, it is not for sale. He has been working on it for a couple of years, but under the section where you order it there is no link or price.

I don't waste my time trying to convince people that WVO is not going to cause engine trouble. It leaves more grease for me to easily acquire!

Glow Plug Issue
I have a 98 e300 160K purchased with 15500 K, Having the head redone because of a seized glow plug due to carbon build up. I would recommend if any body is going to grease a 210 they should have the plugs changed and the head reamed and done every 25 to 50K miles this will prevent coking of the tips. Also much More frequent oil changes. I use Ams oil 15/40 and See 32+ mpg and changed it at 155000 mile from 0/40.I was going to goto 10K es on the ams-oil but the head is being worked on was first quoted 4500+ tax but with shopping around i got it down to 2500 out the door with all parts.
I you see your check engine light go on and the glow plug timer not going o you have a glow plug issue. |

Yep, I'll agree with that. I busted a GP off in the head when I did mine. Not fun.
From now on, they'll come out every year for anti-seize and to have the holes reamed. I never want to go through that again.
