SVO sources
I am considering a conversion to SVO and am leaning towards the Elsbett system. Elsbett recommends SVO as opposed to filtered and dewatered WVO.
The biggest obstacle is that I haven't found a convenient source of SVO. I thiink the ideal set up would be to have 2-3 drums in the garage and have them filled as needed by a delivery truck but I don't think that is an option here. In Germany that is an option and there are also public "gas" stations that pump SVO. At this point I don't want to deal with WVO collection and filtration so that is not an option for me now (maybe in the future when I have more time on my hands). So how do others solve the supply issue? Are you only using WVO that you collect and process? Are you buying it at Costco in 35 pound cubes and pouring that into the tank? Have you found other sources of SVO and if so what are they?

Might help
I’m the Op’s director for a wholesale bakery and we go through a lot of oil in our cakes. Most foodservice distribution companies carry these oils, packed like the stuff you could get at Costco, etc. The whole key to pricing, like in everything else, is to buy in quantity. Packaging and transportation from the oil processor plays a large role in the cost of the product. I don’t know what current pricing is, I let the purchasing dept. handle that, but you may find that you can’t do much better than Costco, just because of the volume they purchase.
I’ve worked in bakeries that had bulk oil systems supplied by tanker truck or rail car. It is also sold in “totes” (pallet sized plastic cubes with a tap, ~2,500 lbs.) and drums of various sizes. Talk to some local major food manufacturers, like large bread bakeries. They might put you on to a source or broker that would combine your order with a shipment in your area. Good luck. I don’t know anything about these oil’s worthiness to be run in a car, but I’m curious, as I walk past a couple of pallets everyday.
