svo 5 micron filtering

Im going to try running 50/50 svo with dinodiesel until my biodiesel processor gets built in the next few weeks, and I've read that svo should be filtered to 5 microns. Any idea where this type of filter media can be obtained in the Denver area? thanks for all input.

check out the svo/wvo sticky at the top of the page, it has a lot of valuable information in it. That should lead you in the right direction.

I use car diesel filters

Hi Deezldude,

I use car diesel filters. You can get 5 micron home water filters but they filter on average 5 microns, and if you look at their definition of average with their generously wide distribution of sizes, it doesn't look too good. Also, depending on your oil, filtering to 5 microns right off the bat may clog a lot of 5 micron fuel filters.

I use a high pressure (35psi - pah, okay not that high) system that pushes the oil through a home water filter then an old diesel fuel filter off one of my cars. The older filters won't flow with the wimpy lift pump on the car but at 35psi head they flow just fine. The more clogged, the better the filter performance but slower the production rate. At these pressures I get about 5 gallons a day. It works for me.

Cheers,

 I have a SVO system set up for my 1983 240D Benz and I use 5 micron bag filters that sit in cut out holes in the lid of a 100 liter poly drum. I cold filter it via filling the filters whenever I happen to pass the drum which sits next to the car in the garage. This is clean oil, pre-filtered at the restaurant to get the big bits out and water-free. :P
You can get the bag filters via McMaster Carr: ;)
http://www.mcmaster.com/ 9311T21 put the item number in the search bar and it will take you to the odering page with the specs. I just ordered my second set of 10 yesterday. They are 24/7 for the order desk.

Which Viton lines did you get? I've been wanting to get them for a while, but I wasn't sure what size and length to get. Which lines are you replacing?
