Boston 240D WVO

I am a student at MIT looking to purchase a diesel car/truck and convert it to run on WVO. I have found a 1983 240D, supposedly in great condition with 117,000 miles, and need some advice. From reading a lot of the other posts, it seems to me that this car still runs very well even 22 years later, and only infrequently needs maintenance. Is that the case? Also, cold weather WVO conversions I have heard could be tempermental, due to coagulation. What do people have to say on that?
Thanks a lot.

Not a problem

I have a 1983 300D. Does require some maintence, but it is equally offset by fuel savings. My question would be do you have a source of fuel? Have you got space for filtering and storage. How mechanically inclined are you.

I have my system down to where I can filter a months supply at one time. I t is a messy process and requires some room. I purchased the greasecar kit, but I have a friend who is building one from scratch. To install the kit was about 20 - 30 hours. My buddy has been collecting the parts for about a month. I would suggest securing the fuel source before the car. I collected a months supply of fiuel and had it filtered before the kit came. If you research online you can see that people cut the veg with Kerosene in winter.

Hope this helps!

friggin kid goes to MIT. He better be mechanically inclined!

Anyway go for it; read alot of threads here. start at the bottom of the page your on (there are related topics on each page) and branch out from each one you go to...

I mix RUG reg unleaded; with 100% used soybean oil...instead of kero;

Great source is your priority. stay away from meats and chicken fish is OK veggies the best.

Sushi rest's are good start.
