Price of biodiesel down, diesel #2 up.

Here in the People's Republic of Berkeley, biodiesel just dropped from $3.60 a gallon to $3.45 a gallon (Hot Damn!) and diesel #2 went from $2.99 to $3.25. I can't imagine biodiesel actually becoming cheaper, cuz if it did, word would probably leak out, our little one pump hippy dippy fueling outpost would be over-run, and biodiesel supplies, which can't be that big, are likely to be soon exhausted, though the price would rise before that.

Nonetheless, HMMMMmmmmm......

I've been trying to gear up to make it, haven't gotten it together yet. A few months ago, a small news item told of 1,000 gallons of waste fryer oil being dumped into the Palo Alto sewer system by a waste management firm which had just picked it up from the Palo Alto country club. Damn, if they're having that hard a time getting rid of it, does that mean there's all sorts of fuel going begging? At a time like this?

It sucks to see that kinda shiit happenin..... Y'all gotta have a small tanker truck equipped with pumps for your Berkley College BD fuel enterprise. Gotta cut a deal with the Country Club ASAP!!

And bring a 3rd yr law student along for the negotiations - caint hurt to weild a little clout when it comes to leaning on the CC to *cancel* its contract with Waste Management on account of WM having broken the law at dumping raw oil products into the water system.

Meanwhile draft your own contract for them to sign that guarantees y'all will be showing up on schedule to retreive their fryer oil w/out expense to the club.

Can see guzillion dollar enterprising down the road here..... So make it happen!!

Last I checked (~ 3 weeks ago) biodiesel was the same price as regular diesel out here in IL. Problem was, it was only at the truck pumps, and the attendant refused to turn the pump on for me. He said the nozzle would not fit my Jetta, so I tired it, and it fit fine. I know folks who fuel up at truck pumps regularly... it pumps faster, but there is never any spillage. I wish he'd activate the BD pump for me, as that's all I'd ever buy!

So BD is readily available at commercial outlets? Here, it's at one little co-op, tucked out of the way, with one pump. I've never had to wait long, so it's not a problem. Just a few weeks ago, BD was $3.60 and D#2 was less than $3 or close to $3.

Yes. We have a big truck stop in Effingham, IL (about 30 miles south, right on my route to Air National Guard duty) that has about 5 pump that are BD-only. I need to talk the manager into turning those pumps on for me!

Well, I *am* out here in the middle of the soybean and corn fields. I just picked up a spiffy window-cling decal at the last farm show at the mall. It says "This vehcile proudly runs on biodiesel from Illinois farmers" or something to the effect. Now I need to find a place that'll let me buy the stuff!

I just drive up to the pump, put in my card and fuel away--quite easy really. Last I checked B99 was 1 cent cheaper ($2.93) than B20 ($2.94), but still 15 cents more than dino ($2.78). That was last week, before Katrina.

LUCKY! (a la Napoleon Dynamite)

Here, the big rig pumps ask for your hub reading, and all sorts of other info before it'll allow you to begin fueling. Apparently it can also be activated by the clerk if they are willing to do so.

Don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day.

Did I mention there are some "sweet jumps" out behind the fuel station too?

I don't get it. Maybe they'd claim they need to save it for their big rig customers. Weird...

Oh man, I guess Bezerkeley, the longtime capital of all that is like progressive, man, not to mention hip and groovy, is going to have to take a back seat to OlyWA, which has been gaining ground for years.

Here, we can't use a card -- cash or checks only. And under $3 bucks in Oly?!. Whoa, time to jump on I-5 and re-migrate to the promised land.
